CROSS STITCH CHART FROM YOUR PHOTO

Box Tree Cottage Designs was founded in 1997 to provide a friendly, personal service for clients who want their own photo turned into a cross stitch or tapestry (needlepoint) chart which they can then follow to create a delightful portrait of their favourite cat, dog or other pet. (Though pets seem sometimes to extend to the engine driven type.) And, of course, special family events and occasions can also be successfully remembered with a cross stitch chart.

Charting is inexpensive for such an individual item - a simple basic cross stitch chart costs about Ł18 and a very complex one with several images on it might go up to Ł25. Each client receives a colour cross stitch or tapestry (needlepoint) simulation, a symbol chart and details of the threads required to stitch the picture, plus any back-up help and advice required.

Two Dogs

These little Jack Russells were full of character but rather hidden by their basket. My client wanted the background and the basket removed and the lower dog 'rounded off' so that his feet could be seen.

Marmalade Cat

This splendid marmalade cat is a resident of Cyprus, and much loved by his owner, who misses him terribly when she comes to England. So she decided to stitch a large tapestry (needlepoint) picture of him from her own delightful photograph.

Wartime Wedding

My client wanted this wartime wedding charted so that she could cross stitch it as a Christmas present. It was quite a challenge to create a cross stitch chart with so many shades of grey but the client was delighted.

Vehicles

*The cross stitch chart.*	Large Steam Tractor The photo of this magnificent steam engine was taken at a Steam Rally on one of those gorgeous English summer days we so rarely see! It translated well into a design for needlepoint (tapestry) but the vehicle itself could easily be taken from the tapestry design and stitched in cross stitch
*The cross stitch chart.*	Trekkaway 'Trekkaway' is a Colvic Watson motor-sailer belonging to my friends Bill and Marilyn. If you look closely you can see Bill in the wheelhouse. Marilyn loves tapestry so I made this up specially for her from a photo.

Society Sampler

A particularly enjoyable piece was this sampler style cross stitch I produced for the members of this society. The designs used motifs which occur in the decorative patterns of carnival glass.

YOUR REQUIREMENTS

Humdinger

Charts are produced to the client's own requirements - you specify size, whether cross stitch or tapestry (needlepoint), alterations and the make or type of thread to be used. No money is ever asked for until the client is happy with the design. So far I have produced cross stitch and tapestry (needlepoint) charts ranging from cats and dogs to a war-time wedding, two horses (photo service, finished cross stitched portrait of Humdinger to left), a vintage RAF lorry and a steam engine! I have also designed a full set of kneelers for an Abbey, based on stonework and architectural features (heads, gargoyles and so on), and a large millennium sampler for a local village.

Box Tree Cottage Designs does not sell materials such as aida or stranded cotton. Your cross stitch chart pack will contain a colour simulation, a black and white symbol chart, full instructions and a guide to the threads used, all contained in a useful re-sealable plastic bag to keep your cross stitching materials tidy.
