THE CATSIGHS CROSS STITCH AND TAPESTRY COLLECTION

In August 1997 Box Tree Cottage designs went into collaboration with Marc Doyle, a well known painter who lives in Oldham, to produce the CATSIGHS range of cross stitch and tapestry charts.

*The Boat*	The Boat Heigh-ho for the open sea - some of these cat seafarers look as if they will be glad to get back to land! Cross stitched on 14-count aida 'The Boat' measures approximately 16.9cm x 24.5cm (6.64" x 9.64). *The Door*	The Door When you get home at night, there's nothing like a friendly cat or two waiting for you to make you feel welcome. Our black beauty and his chum could be stitched in other colours - how about an orange and white cat in front and a grey tabby sitting behind? *The Garden*	The Garden The first and most colourful of our CATSIGHS cross stitch designs, 'The Garden' positively sings with orange, red and yellow - just the thing to add a splash of colour to a modern decor. You'll have fun cross stitching the multi-coloured wall - it's a real challenge but well worth it when the picture is finished. With a little adaptation of half stitches to full stitches and the removal of the backstitch outlines, this looks wonderful as a tapestry too. *Baby Boy*	Baby Boy Proud parents gaze lovingly into a decorated pram. How about cross stitching this as a really special congratulations card? 'Baby Boy' measures approximately 16cm x 22.7cm (6.36" x 8.93") when cross stitched on 14-count aida. *The Wedding*	The Wedding We all know those wedding group pictures where every cat is tired of standing still and the page cats have given up on the proceedings! Here's another cross stitch design that could be made up into a really special congratulations card - if you can bear to part with it. *The Bathtub*	The Bathtub A jolly romp for a fabulous feline. The bathroom is getting rather wet, and it's a pity our green cat has dropped his plastic duck! You'll love the brilliant colours in this cheerful cross stitch picture. *The Kitchen*	The Kitchen Our favourite contemporary cat has found a great place to sleep, and the kittens are safe in the drawer. For sheer fun, this cross stitch picture takes a lot of beating. *The Kitchen (Ginger)*	The Kitchen (Ginger) For those who feel that ginger cats are the best cats, we have converted 'The Kitchen' to a different colourway. *The Umbrella*	The Umbrella Here's our happy family group again, this time sheltering from the rain. A collection of cute cross stitch cats to cheer up a showery day. *The Stream*	The Stream It's a busy day down by the stream in summer, with bugs, beetles and a cheeky fish all teasing our cute cat. We think the fish will stay out of reach and the cat will be too lazy to catch it. Note; the CATSIGHS designs were created to be stitched with two strands of stranded cotton (one thread for back stitch) when using 14-count aida. On 10-count aida, you will need three strands of stranded cotton for the main stitching and two strands for the back stitch. All CATSIGHS designs can be produced in any of the usual makes of stranded cotton, but colours will vary slightly depending on which make you choose. For tapestry (needlepoint) work the charts can be produced to suit any of several proprietary makes of tapestry wool.

Marc's witty cat paintings have been widely exhibited and his own company sells a large range of cat-related items. His delightful contemporary cats translate beautifully into needlecraft designs and charts can be produced for cross stitch or needlepoint (tapestry) according to the client's wishes.

Each cross stitch or tapestry (needlepoint) chart pack costs Ł6.99 including postage for delivery in the UK. The cross stitch and tapestry packs are approximately the same sizes across all patterns in order that cat lovers can stitch them and form a reasonably matched set.
